Project Timeline
- Market Research
- Targeted customers: University students (Fashion students)
- Method: Surveys aimed to find clothing preferences and pain points when purchasing new clothes
- Result: A key pain point many students resonated with is the desire for bold silhouettes, but finding them too expensive
- Designing Concepts
- Aim: Given the pain points of the targeted customers, I want to design a piece of clothing that has bold silhouette but also not too expensive when it comes to cost of production.
- Method: Using 3d software (Marvellous designer), I was able to design and visualise how the final products is going to look like. The reason why I chose this method is because it allows me show other people how the product looks like before it was produced,
- This not only allowed me to refine on specific detail based on potential customer feedbacks, but also allowed me to use it as a "prototype" to communicate with the manufacturers.
- Result: Multiple design drafts were created and refined based on feedbacks and production feasibility.
- Prototyping & Production
- Aim: Creating functional prototypes, testing them with customers to gain feedbacks.
- Communicate with manufacturers to discuss the most efficient and affordable ways to produce.
- Method: Communicating with manufacturers for prototype production and discuss on the quality, fit and feasibility on mass production.
- Coordinated with multiple manufacturers, making design adjustments, obtaining and comparing quotes.
- Result: The prototype allowed me to identify key areas of improvement (readjusting silhouette and material choice), making it more cost efficient.
- After comparing quotes and the production time-line of the manufacturers, I was able to secure a cost-effective manufacturer, this allowed me to deliver my final product in a affordable price range.
- Release
- Aim: Successfully launching the product, ensuring quality control.
- Making sure it will deliver on the release date.
- Designing packaging in order to enhance customer experience and establish brand image.
- Method: I worked closely with the manufacturers to ensure the final product have met all required standards, incorporating feedback from the prototyping and testing phases.
- I coordinated the delivery schedule with the manufacturer to ensure on-time release.
- I worked on finalising the packaging, preparing it for market launch.
- Result: The product was delivered on schedule, with all quality standards met. Ready for online and off line sale.
- Also positive feedback were given from close friends on the products' quality and presentation.
